Back Pain

Low back pain is now the leading cause of disability world-wide. It occurs across all income levels and age groups and is highest in working age groups.

In the UK millions of work days a year are lost due to low back pain and most adults will experience it at some point in their lives.

Back pain can have many causes and often there are a number of factors that have led to the onset of an episode of pain. Postural strain, physical work, falls and lifting injuries are all common contributors. Stress, fatigue and anxiety can also be an underlying cause.
Some women experience back pain following the birth of a child.

Osteopathic treatment is suitable for people of all ages. An osteopathic consultation includes advice about posture, exercise and life style changes to assist recovery and help to prevent recurrence of symptoms.

Osteopaths are fully trained to recognise health conditions and will refer you to a medical doctor or other practitioner if appropriate.
